You may want to mention also that in cold weather to keep the equipment as warm as possible by putting it under your clothing while not in use. I keep my extra batteries and compact flash cards in the inside pocket next to my chest for warmth. Also, watch out for off brand lens shades, they will cause vignetting,(dark borders), on some wide angle lens. www.johnstonphotos.org Great reading.
